UK National Fire Service Cufflinks Royal Fire Brigade Accessories
National Fire Service Cufflinks made from vintage uniform buttons.
- I saw these buttons and thought they would be neat cufflinks.
- I love things with history behind them and thought these were beautiful.
- They do have different wear and tear on them. One is a little more worn.
- They are mounted on matching silver tone cufflinks.
- The buttons are 7/8 inch in diameter.
-----------------------
These cufflinks are stunning and filled with history. The buttons are embossed with "NFS", which stands for National Fire Service. The National Fire Service was the single fire service created in Great Britain in 1941 during the Second World War. The NFS was created in August 1941 by the amalgamation of the wartime national Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) and the local authority fire brigades. It existed until 1948, when it was again split by the Fire Services Act 1947, with fire services reverting to local authority control, although this time there were far fewer brigades, with only one per county and county borough. The buttons are silver tone in color with the ridges a light brass tone. They are mounted on to silver tone cuff link stems. The buttons they are made with are 7/8 inch in diameter.
