This ring is amazingly different from any other in my shop. I always thought the Maltese cross was interesting.
In the 15th century, the eight points on the Maltese cross represented the eight lands of origin of the Knights of Malta: Auvergne, Provence, France, Aragon, Castille and Portugal, Italy, Germany, and England.
The eight points also symbolize the eight obligations or aspirations of the knights: to live in truth, to have faith, to repent one's sins, to give proof of humility, to love justice, to be merciful, to be sincere and wholehearted to endure persecution. With such a rich history, I knew the button would be amazing. Plus the Maltese Cross is just plain cool looking. The button measures at 5/8 inch in diameter. It is mounted on a brass colored ring band that is adjustable.
