This pin is amazingly different from any other in my store. I always thought the Maltese cross was interesting.
In the 15th century, the eight points on the Maltese cross represented the eight lands of origin of the Knights of Malta: Auvergne, Provence, France, Aragon, Castille and Portugal, Italy, Germany, and England. The eight points also symbolize the eight obligations or aspirations of the knights: to live in truth, to have faith, to repent one's sins, to give proof of humility, to love justice, to be merciful, to be sincere and wholehearted to endure persecution. With such a rich history, I knew this pin would be amazing. Plus the Maltese Cross is just plain cool looking. This particular one is white on a dark purple background. It is set into a brass tone bezel setting with clear resin. The resin does have imperfections and you can see it in the images. The front of the pin is around 7/8 inch in diameter. It is mounted on a clutch back pin, so it could be used for a tie pin or a lapel pin. Or just a pin pin.
