This necklace is different from any other in my store. I always thought the Maltese cross was interesting.
In the 15th century, the eight points on the Maltese cross represented the eight lands of origin of the Knights of Malta: Auvergne, Provence, France, Aragon, Castille and Portugal, Italy, Germany, and England. The eight points also symbolize the eight obligations or aspirations of the knights: to live in truth, to have faith, to repent one's sins, to give proof of humility, to love justice, to be merciful, to be sincere and wholehearted to endure persecution. With such a rich history, I knew this pin would be amazing. Plus the Maltese Cross is just plain cool looking. This particular one is white on a dark purple background. It is set into a brass tone bezel setting with clear resin. The front of the pendant is around 7/8 inch in diameter. It is strong on a matching antiqued brass tone chain that is 18 inches from end to end.
